Liberal Caucus Whip, Education Critic, Environment Critic, Natural Resources Critic, Public Service Commission Critic, Gaming Critic, Youth Secretariat I will continue to be a leader on the issues, a fighter for what is right, a negotiator in your best interest. I believe education, agricultural renewal, job creation and sustainable development are keys to our prosperity. As we grow, I will work to preserve the quality of life in the Annapolis Valley. My promise is to continue to work hard and do my best on your behalf. Leo Glavine was first elected to the Nova Scotia Legislature to represent the people of Kings West in August of 2003. Previous to his service as a Member of the Legislature, Leo worked as an educator for 30 years, first as a teacher and most recently as Vice Principal of West Kings District High School. His firsthand experience within the education sector has proved an asset in Leo’s former role as Liberal Education Critic. In addition to his role within the Liberal Caucus, Leo has served as a member of the Human Resources and Community Service Committees. Recognizing the economic and importance of our province's Agriculture Industry. Leo has worked to resolve issues surrounding the Avon Foods plant closure, BSE and the Hog industry. He demonstrated a commitment to improving the healthcare of Nova Scotian's by sitting as a member of the Liberal Round Table Health Care Wait Times, which travelled throughout Nova Scotia meeting with healthcare stakeholders to discuss the challenges facing our health care system. An avid hockey player, Leo has coached youth on high school and league hockey teams over the past 30 years. This experience was put to good use as Leo worked in conjunction with MLAs from all three parties represented in the Legislature to organize hockey games as a way to support and fundraise for community projects such as Berwick’s Apple Dome and the Special Olympics.
